All that jazz...

I take Jazz classes at the RWB as part of my feeble attempts at regular exercise. I get the joy of being creative (within the carefully defined confines of the teacher), of learning a skill I'll use in real life all the time (I now end every presentation I do at work, with a perky "jazz hands"), and apparently to have the shit irritated out of me every week. I am in a class of morons; jazz class tends to attract several "artsy" types. I have nothing against artsy people - just the ones that have to try so damned hard to remind us constantly just how artsy they are. In no particular order:

Mansexual guy - He's apparently straight. He chasees across the room with the lightness of whipped frosting, and squeals with delight when the teacher plays "Come on Eileen". Yet, when the teacher decides to play something like Britney Spears or "It's Raining Men" for example, he suddenly throws his hands up, grabs his balls and declares that "oh my god! I can't believe we're listening to this gay music!" Um, buddy don't you think it's a little late to be asserting your burgeoning heterosexuality when you've just wet your pants in glee because we're adding a pirouette to your repetoire? This is a classic example of - too little too late.

Dumber than shit girl - she's a drama major, and uses the word "like" so much, that I think she might have an epileptic fit if she tries to stop. She is so dumb, that I can actually feel my brain cells crawling out of my ears, and leaping to their deaths when she is talking.

Guy who will be a very bad actor guy - another drama major, only he doesn't want anyone to see him. That's right - we're doing a recital and he won't participate because he is embarassed. Dude, you are like so going to be like such a good actor who won't get on stage. Like, how is anyone going to see you if you like don't get on stage? Are you only going to do roles where you're invisible??

Girl who won't shut the fuck up - oh she's my favorite. Not only can she not dance (despite the FIVE other classes she's in), she sings. Constantly. Like, I mean she never stops singing. We were dancing to the song (and I don't know the name) that goes "what I like about you, you hold me tight (do you know which one I mean?)", and to my horror at the end of class she sat there singing a fully operatic version of the song. I swear, I heard dogs howling as they threw themselves in front of cars to make it stop. Will someone please tell this girl, that this isn't Canadian Idol - and that if she ever went on the show, she'd end up in those clips where the entire country points and laughs at the person that thinks they can sing??

On that note (get it? NOTE?):

Breakfast: Tim Hortons whole wheat bagel w/ light creamcheese
Lunch: Greek salad, garlic bread
Snack: toast with peanut butter
Dinner: edamame (I am so wildly happy that Safeway carries these now), fish, wine

Total: 1432 cal, 53 g fat, 152 g carbs, 75 g protein.

Plus 60 mins cardio at Jazz class.

Hahahaha - I love the mansexual guys who just never quite see how gay they look ;).

Like for sure...like.

Try living in California and being in line anywhere; all you hear are convos that have the word like like like every other word!

I can't STAND artsy fartsy types! I have a HUGE problem with drama and music geeks. Huge. It's like their parents never paid them enough attention when they were children and now they're forcing all the rest of us to "Look at me! Watch me!" Do they not have any shame?!?! I feel for you. :)

I love the idea of finishing of a presentation with jazz hands, I'm going to have to try that. Sounds like you dance with a load of wankers - I admire your patience!

Thanks for commenting on my blog the other day. I recently discovered sushi and now have to have it at least once a week and usually on Tuesdays...

Your blog kicks all the booty! I am going to add it to my "must read" list.

You're a hoot!

Do you have jazz/dance experience. I have thought about taking ice skating lessons. I haven't skated for about 18 years. They say it is for all ages, but I also fear it will be me and a bunch of children.
